TAKE A TRIAL CLASS: We are confident that you will love class but we always encourage new students to take one trial class to ensure the student and parent feels comfortable with the class and teacher. No need to RSVP...simply show up to the class that you are interested in. Always check our latest schedule to confirm the class is running as usual. (Please arrive early to complete the required forms.) If you would like to register for the class, please register the same day at the recreation center's front desk. A student’s place is not secured in a class until payment is submitted. We encourage students to not take a trial class within classes that are listed as full. (Although rare, if too many students coincidently show up on the same day for a trial class, the teacher may need to limit the class size to ensure class quality.)
Dance To EvOLvE OFFERS HIGH QUALITY, AFFORDABLE AND FUN CLASSES: We are proud to offer professional dance teachers who create high quality progressive classes...the same quality (if not higher) that you would receive at a traditional dance studio. Our teachers create fun, creative, and progressive classes. Our prices are very competitive compared to most traditional dance studios, and in addition, we do not charge a registration fee or recital fee like most dance studios. Further, we do not have a strict dress code that requires you to purchase new dance clothes, and we always encourage you to purchase your items online to receive the best prices. (See dress code below with a coupon code for 10% off.) We also have a flexiable make-up class policy that enables you to get your full moneys worth of classes. Dance To EvOLvE believes that you and/or your child can receive high quality instruction at an affordable price.
STUDENT RATIO/ CLASS SIZE: To ensure high quality classes and a good student ratio, an Assistant Teacher will help with our larger tiny tot ballet combo classes. When a class has more than 10 registered students, an Assistant Teacher will be assigned. Any tiny tot ballet combo class with 10 or less registered students will have an Assistant Teacher based on need. Our tiny tot ballet combo classes have a maxiumum of 14 registered students (with 2 teachers). Other classes maximum enrollment depends on the ages and room size. The ratio and class size may vary time to time to accommodate our flexible trial class and make-up policy.
KNOWING OUR TEACHERS: We take our philosophy of 'high quality' seriously and that means great, highly trained teachers. All Dance To EvOLvE teachers are hand picked by the Director based on their teaching background, dance experience, charisma, and professionalism. New EvOLvE teachers must also complete teacher training before taking on their own classes and all are required to complete yearly Dance To EvOLvE professional development workshops. This continuous training ensures that our teachers are always growing and improving, which is what sets EvOLvE apart. Our teachers also follow the copy written EvOLvE curriculum which gives enough flexibility for the teacher to adapt to specific class needs while also utilizing their own strengths. The curriculum also ensures that all classes are learning progressive, age appropriate movement and technique. Although all our teachers follow the same class structure and format, they obviously have different personalities and teaching styles that will suit different dancers. Please read the teacher bios and feel to call us to help you find the right class and teacher for your dancer!
REGISTRATION/ ENROLLMENT POLICIES: Registration and payment is taken at the front desk of the site where you want to take the class. Registration is the only thing that Dance To EvOLvE does not manage directly and regrettably cannot be taken online or over the phone. (Except for the YMCA Mission Valley and Gym Ventures location, which can both take credit card payments over the phone.) Please note that the recreation centers accept exact cash and checks only and the YMCA and Gym Venture locations are the only locations that accept credit cards. Please call us at (858) 876-LEAP (5327) for any additional information regarding our classes as the recreation center’s front desk simply takes the registration and cannot answer all questions regarding our classes.
The recreation center’s policy is ‘first come first served’ in regards to registration when a new session begins. (To ensure your place in class, register for the entire semester compared to each session, register early and pay on time. If a class is full, please ask to be put on our wait list for the next session or an additional class.)
* Students must be registered with the recreation center and complete the Dance To EvOLvE registration form.
* Students’ readiness and enrollment in a class is at the discretion of the EvOLvE teacher.
* Students who are repetitively late to class may not be allowed to participate to avoid class disruption.
* Students with excessive absences may not be allowed to participate in upcoming performances.
* Students must follow the dress code listed above and the class rules provided by the teacher.

DRESS CODE FOR DANCE CLASSES
Receive 10% OFF your first order with Discount Dance by using the Dance To EvOLvE's code TP35961 at www.discountdance.com. See where to buy dance attire here
Please see our blog on the importance of a dress code.
The Mommy or Daddy & Me Movement and Music Class class has no dress code and requires no specific dance shoes. Leotards, tights, tutus and ballet shoes are always welcomed as they only add to the fun, they are optional but the child should always wear comfortable clothing.
Tiny Tot Tap/ Ballet/ Tumbling Classes: We want our dancers to have fun while being safe and appropriate. Dancers are asked to wear proper dance attire (ex: leotard, tights, and tutus) and/or leggings and a t-shirt. We ask that tiny tots’ dance clothes are worn for dance class only so that the student understands that they are coming to dance class and not an unstructured play time. Hair needs to be pulled back.
Shoes: Pink ballet shoes (black for boys) and black tap shoes are required in appropriate classes. Ballet shoes should have an elastic across the front of the ankle to keep the shoe from falling off the heel and the shoestring should be double knotted and tucked into the shoe. Ballet slippers with a thick cushion sole are not recommended. Tap shoes need to have a shoestring. Socks are not allowed as to avoid slipping. (We encourage the recommended colored shoes so that all dancers have needed colored shoes come recital time when the students need to dress the same as to avoide having to buy new shoes. Prior to recital time, we are lenient on the color of the shoes.) Please label your child’s name in all shoes. Please see our blog on how to pick out dance shoes and the type of shoes to avoid.
Hip Hop: Sweats, leggings, and t-shirts are great...wear clothes that you can easily move in and are appropriate when dancing and doing floor work. (Shorts and skirts can be a challenge.) Girls should wear their hair pulled back in a ponytail. Sneakers with laces are required (safety first). Barefoot or socks just won't work.
Ballet 1: Students are required to wear a solid color leotard, black/ white/ pink tights, and ballet shoes. Ballet sweaters are allowed on cold days. Hair must be pulled back in a bun.
For safety reasons, dancers are not permitted to wear jewelry in any class.
CLASS MAKE-UP POLICY: All EvOLvE students can make-up any missed class during any age appropriate class at any EvOLvE location within one month of the missed class (please ask for details regarding make-up classes at the Carmel Valley Rec and YMCA Mission Valley location). No RSVP needed, simply complete a make-up slip upon arrival with the teacher. (Make-up classes during recital season can be difficult as classes are preparing for the recital and the student making up the class will not know the dance to fully participate in the class, therefore please schedule make-up classes outside of recital season which includes April, May and June.)
REFUND POLICY: We are confident that you and/or your child will love our classes but we encourage new students to take a trial class prior to registering to ensure that the class is a good fit. If a refund is necessary for any reason, please contact the front desk of the recreation center prior to the second class of the session in order to receive a refund. Please note the recreation centers have a $20-$25 refund fee unless the refund is a result of a change on our end. If a refund is requested at the YMCA, you will be issued a credit towards any other class offered at the YMCA minus the amount for the class/es you have already taken. If the class was cancelled, then you will be refunded in full. All refunds are processed at the front desk of the site and not with Dance To EvOLvE.
